A Prototype of Co-Frequency Co-Time Full Duplex Networking

    Get PDF
Radio FD has emerged as an attractive technique capable of doubling the spectral efficiency over half duplex. However, for signal reception, an FD node needs to suppress its transmitter's signals quite significantly. In point to point communication systems, these transmitter signals are termed self-interference. When working with an FD mobile network, the self-interference problem becomes much more complicated because the receiver of an FD base station (BS) receives interference not only from its BS transmitter in its cell, but also from those in the surrounding cells. For the UL channel, self-interference extends to the problem of multiple interference. And, a similar interference problem can be found among the MSs over a DL channel. In both cases, the interference owing to the FD implementation spreads beyond the scope of the self-interference. This article describes the development of FD BSs that use antenna arrays to deal with the BSs' interference, and thus enable FD communication over the UL channel, where the theoretical focus is placed on how to use the antenna array to nullify the multiple interference and receive the signals of the desired MSs simultaneously. To complete the system construction, FD MSs have also been developed to enable DL transmission. A prototype system is described for the scenario of two cells and one FD MS for tests of FD communication over UL channels and DL channels in terms of video performance. Good video quality is demonstrated at both the BS and MS

Brown rice, an important material of whole-grain food, is increasingly popular for its health benefits. Thus, seven varieties of brown rice from southern China were analyzed in this study, concerning the free and bound phenolic compounds in the extract. The phenolic profiles of different brown rice were obtained and compared by the combination of HPLC and LC-MS analysis, in which eleven phenolic acids were identified. It was indicated that the total phenolic contents of different brown rice varied from 92.32 to 196.54 mg of gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/100 g DW. Ferulic acid and p-coumaric acid, free and bound, dominated within the phenolic acids. To be mentioned, the total phenols of Luotiangongmi (a kind of red rice) were significantly higher than the other six varieties. The high phenolic content of brown rice can further guide us to explore the functional properties of the crops

Since December 2019, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has spread throughout the world and has had a devastating impact on health and economy. The biochemical characterization of SARS-CoV-2 proteins is important for drug design and development. In this study, we discovered that the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein can melt double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) in the 5′-3′ direction, similar to SARS-CoV-2 nonstructural protein 13. However, the unwinding activity of SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein was found to be more than 22 times weaker than that of SARS-CoV-2 nonstructural protein 13, and the melting process was independent of nucleoside triphosphates and Mg2+. Interestingly, at low concentrations, the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein exhibited a stronger annealing activity than SARS-CoV-2 nonstructural protein 13; however, at high concentrations, it promoted the melting of dsDNA. These findings have deepened our understanding of the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein and will help provide novel insights into antiviral drug development

    Blind Analog Interference Cancellation

    No full text
A blind solution to analog interference cancellation is proposed for scenarios where the interference source is known at the receiver. Beyond conventional solutions, the proposed interference cancellation scheme has two merits: 1) it is implemented with analog signal processing, which is suitable for the systems with extremely strong interference and 2) it does not need any training process for adjusting parameters of analog devices, which reduces the computational complexity and time delay. For the purpose of performance evaluation, the power spectral density expressions are formulated in closed form for the desired signal and the interference components after the proposed blind interference cancellation. Furthermore, illustrative numerical results not only substantiate the outstanding performance of the proposed scheme, specifically in the case of strong interference, but also provide useful principles for the pulse shaping filter design in the transceiver

In this work, whiteness, water-holding capacity, gel strength, textural profile analysis were performed to examine the quality of fish balls with abalone (FBA). In addition, a correlation between quality and sensory properties was established. The addition of abalone significantly increased the water holding capacity, gel strength and textural properties of FBA, and decreased their whiteness, the best overall quality was achieved at 9 % w/w abalone addition. The E-nose and E-tongue results revealed that the addition of abalone changed the flavour of FBA. HS-SPME-GC–MS identified 65 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and proved to be effective in reducing fishy flavour. E-nose can distinguish between the VOCs in FBA. Moreover, Umami and 1-octen-3-ol can serve as important indicators to observe changes in the quality of FBA, as they were positively connected with WHC, gumminess, chewiness, resilience, a*, hexanal, etc. The results provided a theoretical basis for the development of abalone and surimi products

Conference Name:9th International Conference on Computer Science and Education, ICCCSE 2014. Conference Address: Vancouver, BC, Canada. Time:August 22, 2014 - August 24, 2014.The online stock comments are known to have some impacts on the trend of the stock market. In this paper, we design and implement an automatic classification system for the stock comments, which is an important issue in discussing the relation between the trend of the stock market and the stock comments. A classifier based on support vector machine (SVM) is established in which the topic words are considered as the features of the classification for the stock comments. The number of the topic words is only a few dozen because the topic words are only related to the online stock comments. Therefore, our system does not suffer from the curse of dimensionality which is a challenge in the common text classification. The experiment results on some datasets of the stock comments show our method is effective and can be regarded as an automatic tool for the classification of the stock comments

Interfacial Engineering Based on Polyethylene Glycol and Cuprous Thiocyanate Layers for Efficient and Stable Perovskite Solar Cells

Cuprous thiocyanate (CuSCN) is an ideal inorganic hole transport material for perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, polar solvents for film deposition of CuSCN run a risk of destroying the perovskite light-absorbing layer. There is also a poor contact between perovskites and CuSCN, restricting photovoltaic performance and operational stability of PSCs. In this work, a polyethylene glycol (PEG-10000) is employed as an interlayer to effectively overcome the obstacles mentioned above. By introducing this ultra-thin layer at the interface between (MAFA)Pb(IBr)3 and CuSCN, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) and operational stability of the related PSCs are both greatly improved. The results confirm that the insertion of PEG cannot only prevent the destruction of bulk perovskites but also reduce the traps/defects at the interface through its strong chemical bonding with undercoordinated ions, which significantly lowers the potential barrier between the perovskite and the hole transport layer. An improved PCE of 19.2% can be achieved in the CuSCN-based PSCs by interface engineering with PEG. The introduction of PEG can also protect the perovskite film from moisture attack, and greatly enhance device stability. The PEG-treated PSCs without encapsulation maintain more than 90% of the initial efficiency after 1860 h in the ambient air.</p

Global squid contamination by halogenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and its trade induced risk transfer

Squid is traded globally as an important food resource. However, the occurrence of carcinogenic halogenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (HPAHs) in squid and the risk of their transfer through trade is little understood or recognized. Here, we comprehensively evaluated the occurrence and risk transfer by quantifying the congener-specific concentrations of HPAHs in 121 squid samples collected from the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans. This was the first time that nine of the 36 target chlorinated and brominated PAH congeners had been detected in squid. The HPAHs exhibited growth-dilution effects in the squid. The lipid content of squid was the most significant factor influencing HPAH bioaccumulation, while differences in squid growth and local ocean contamination influenced by geographical distribution also affected HPAH bioaccumulation. The redistribution and risk transfers of HPAHs in squid as a food could be affected by international trading. The cancer risks from squid consumption in China and Mexico were increased by 50 % and 30 %, respectively, because of international squid trading
